| Rats These pictures were taken in October 2009. I took a vacation day to go with my date to a place called Grounds for Sculpture and to eat at their restaurants called Rats. (see the link below). The best way to describe this place is to say that it's place for American and International artists to display their sculptures on 35 acres in Hamilton, NJ. It also has a beautiful restaurant called Rats. It's owned by Seward Johnson of Johnson and Johnson fame. There's a story about it being called rats but forget the story. If interested, I'm sure the link can lead you to the story. Originally we were going to eat dinner here, but decided to instead have lunch here and then go into New Hope for dinner. The place was pretty full. Our waitress was Michelle. She was very good, she knew her food and wines. We got along so well with her that after lunch she offered a tour of the restaurant including the kitchen. There she introduced us to the lead chef along with his staff. She also showed us a stove that cost two million dollars. It was very long and had some features that are considered top notch. Michelle also showed around the restaurant including all the various dining rooms and special function rooms. It was quite impressive. All the staff we met with were very nice and accommodating. Side note: If you have a keen eye you will notice I change my shoes over time. It was hard to walk in 4 inch heels on the gravel, dirt and grassy areas. After lunch we went on the grounds to view the sculptures. Since it was a weekday in October there weren't too many people here. It's on 35 acres so we are all spread out. We did run into one woman early on our little experience and actually met up with her later on near the end. I had this feeling she had some interest in us, me, him. We did take photo's together. She reminded me of a woman I dated four years ago. As you can see by the photos it's a cool place to eat and take in some artistic works. Highly recommended When we left it was time for dinner so we decided to go over to the Triumph Brewery in New Hope and ask for a dinner menu at the bar and have a few of their home brews and watch the Yankees play Minnesota Twins. And we didn't take any pictures at all. How unusual for a ham like me. |
