| Baked Alaska These pictures were taken in February 2009. This is the 1st of three pages for my Philadelphia visit. It's Saturday night and we have reservations at OceanAire which is a very upscale seafood restaurant located on Walnut St. And afterwards we'll head over to Woody's a local bar and to end the night at the Omni Hotel Bar OceanAire is very nice restaurant, well decorated and the staff was very well trained and mannered. We were seated in the upstairs balcony, which had some great views of the restaurant. Years ago the restaurant was a bank and the balcony was most likely where the bank executives sat. I ordered a salad and the striped bass with a Chimay Red. After the dinner the waiter offered us a baked Alaska on the house (see pics). I must have been a good girl. After dinner was over we headed over to Woody's a very popular bar. People were flowing in and out all night long. We had seats near the door and you could feel the cold come in with every person. The whole weekend was very cold, windy and rainy. Staff was friendly and so was one gentleman. I think he was actually trying to pick me up and I had my date sitting next to me whom I did introduce. That never stopped the guy. I found it amusing, very flattering but most of all in bad taste. I'm friendly and have a heart, but not stupid. We later ended our night at the Omni Hotel bar. Many people in the hotel went to a wedding today and some of the younger people were here tonight drinking when we came in. I think some of them had much too much to drink. One young woman and guy were loudly debating who has more lakes Minnesota or Michigan. I guess that was exciting to them, go figure. The bartender Susie here was very nice and we chatted with her for awhile and over the whole weekend. |
